Conference: the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Belgium and P.R. China

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Belgium and the People’s Republic of China, the Egmont-Royal Institute for International Relations and the Belgian-Chinese Chamber of Commerce held a conference at the Egmont Palace on Wednesday 12 October 2011. The conference focused on China’s economic developments and its transformation, the role of China in the global Economy and the increasing role of the renminbi in investment policies.
Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Mr. Steven VANACKERE, Ambassador of the P.R.of China H.E. Mr. LIAO Liqiang, Ambassador Hr Patrick NOTHOMB, leading analyst on China Mr. Jonathan FENBY, chief ING economist Mr. Peter VANDEN HOUTE and the Belgium branch general manager of Industrial Bank and Commercial Bank (ICBC) of China Mr. CHEN Fei were present and gave speeches during the conference. More than 100 people joined the conference and the reception afterwards.
