23/01/2009 “Double Happiness” A Belgian Chinese dialogue on contemporary art From 16th of October 2009 until 24th of January 2010 A production of the Centre for Fine Arts (BOZAR), in collaboration with Europalia and the NAMOC. In the autumn of 2009, The Centre for Fine Arts is organising the exhibition “Double Happiness” , an artistic encounter between contemporary Chinese and Belgian artists in the frame of the Europalia China festival. The exhibition is conceived by a Belgian-Chinese team constituted of the international renowned artists Luc Tuymans and Ai Weiwei , and the curators Philippe Pirotte , Belgian independent curator and director of the Kunsthalle Bern and Fan Di’an , director of the National Art Museum of China (NAMOC) in Beijing. With the works of fifty artists from both countries – representing the established values of the art scene as well as a younger generation – the curators create a dialogue between these two worldviews.
